An Orange Sulphur Butterfly visits a red clover flower — wings open, the orange-yellow coloration with black borders precise, a second clover stem curving below. This 1969 watercolour is a paired botanical and entomological study: the butterfly and its host plant rendered with equal attention, the cream-coloured paper ground giving the whole composition a warm, herbarium-page quality.
Glen's butterfly studies occupy a distinct place in his catalogue — smaller in scale than his mammal or bird work, but no less carefully observed. The Sulphur's wing venation, the antenna, the specific articulation of the legs on the flower head: all of it is there for those who look.

Choose one of three edge finishes. A mirrored wrap gives the impression that the work continues around the edge of the canvas. A white edge offers a traditional, untouched finish, and a black edge frames the work with a quiet accent, almost like a shadow.
