# Flowering Raspberry — Giclée on Paper

Flowering Raspberry — Rubus odoratus — in full bloom, the large magenta-pink flowers vivid among the broad maple-like leaves. This is one of the showiest of Ontario's native shrubs, a plant of forest edges and rocky outcrops that produces flowers disproportionately large for its modest stature. Glen rendered it with the botanical completeness he brought to all his wildflower subjects: the wrinkled petals, the clustered stamens, the specific leaf venation.

The Flowering Raspberry is one of the most overlooked of Ontario's native plants — its flowers rival those of cultivated roses, yet it is seldom painted. Glen gave it the full attention it deserves. He is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts; his botanical studies are collected alongside his celebrated wildlife paintings worldwide.
