# Cooper's Hawk — Giclée on Paper

A Cooper's Hawk perches on a dead oak branch, hunched forward, red eye blazing, the rufous-barred breast pressed against the bark. This 1982 watercolour is an exercise in raptor authority — the hawk owns the branch, the autumn leaves behind it are secondary, the viewer is assessed and found uninteresting. Glen captured the species' characteristic intensity: these are birds that are always watching.

Glen spent years observing raptors both from field sketches and from skin specimens at the Royal Ontario Museum. The gnarled oak branch is as carefully observed as the bird itself. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts whose raptor paintings are held in collections across North America.

Produced as a museum-quality giclée on archival, acid-free paper using fade-resistant inks. A 1" white border surrounds the image, ready for the framer of your choice.
