# Close Call — Giclée on Paper

A Canada Lynx in full charge along a snow-covered branch, snarling, every muscle extended — a ruffed grouse feather still drifting in its wake to the left of the frame. The watercolour is from 1990 and represents Glen working at the peak of his technical powers: the lynx's winter coat painted with the same fine-brush patience he brought to his quieter portraits, but the animal now in violent motion, the composition crackling with energy.

Glen understood that a wildlife painter who only paints animals at rest tells half the story. This painting tells the other half. The title is deliberately ambiguous — whose close call? The answer depends on whether you're watching from the lynx's side of the branch or the grouse's. Glen Loates is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts whose large mammal watercolours are among the most ambitious in the Canadian tradition.

Produced as a museum-quality giclée on archival, acid-free paper using fade-resistant inks. A 1" white border surrounds the image, ready for the framer of your choice.
